BLUEJAYS ARRIVE

I don't think the Bluejay's got the memo that we are no longer a Backyard Wildlife Habitat because they were all gathering in our backyard for a midday snack. We had at least 30 bluejays flying around enjoying our yard.

SUPRISE IT'S SANTA

After several days at home we needed to get out so we just got in the car and drove. We ended up in Kannapolis and by pure accident we met Santa, Harrison did not want to go into the building when he saw him but decided to be brave and he sat on his lap for the very first time. Santa was all alone with his reindeer there was no line and no problems taking photos. I loved Santa and he gave Harrison the speech. WOW Harrison was dumbfounded and speechless just shook his head when asked if he understood. It really was a priceless moment and I wish I had it on film. Thanks Santa!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM/GRANDMA!!

This is the first year since Jason and I have been together (7 years) that we did not go anywhere for Thanksgiving. We have always lived away and traveled 4-6 hours for Thanksgiving, although we did miss spending time with our family we truly enjoyed not driving and being home for the holiday enjoying 72 degrees and a plus was laying around in our PJ's the whole holiday was a bonus. We made our dinner together, I made a turkey breast, gravy, green beans, dressing and banana cream pie Jason made the mashed potatoes and Harrison made the rolls. I made homemade donuts the morning after and everyone loved them but Delaney loved them the most, take a look of the photos for proof. We decorated our entire house for Christmas over the past 3 days and we are still laying around in our PJ's, it has been pretty terrific to say the least.

Yesterday was Mom's birthday and for her big birthday present Mom and Dad are going to Hawaii on Tuesday for 10 days, what a terrific birthday gift.

We visited Delaney's favorite place today, Monkey Joe's. This is a huge building full of blow ups and open all day everyday. She had a such a good time spending approximately 30 seconds at each one, just running around like a crazy kid!!! She climbed the big slide and went down for the first time by herself she had a great time and fell asleep on her way home!!
We also had a beautiful drive home and passed the work on the new shopping plaza near our house.

CRAZY HAT DAY

Captain Caveman, we found these hats in South Carolina yesterday while Christmas shopping.

Today I learned: People in South Carolina wear funny hats in the winter.

Delaney and her best buddy

I suppose playing with her 5 year old brother has proven successful for a 2 1/2 year old, because Delaney has decided Sydnee is her best friend and she is also 5. She squeals when she sees her and runs to hug her, they play baby dolls together, chalk the sidewalk and just giggle together all the time. While Delaney is playing with Sydnee her twin sister is playing crash cars and blocks with Harrison.

BIRTHDAY PARTY

Today Harrison went to a Karate birthday party with 18 boys at a Karate center for his friend Kyle's 6th birthday. Two hours of kicking, nerf sword fighting and acting like a black belt, brutal for 5 and 6 year olds boys (ha-ha).

Today I learned: To burn off one plain M&M candy, you need to walk the full length of a football field. Brutal information!!

BIG DAY OUT

Today Mom and Dad left after a week visit, we had a very good time with them while they were here. I did pack a lot of things in during the week and don't think we really ever sat still so things were a little hectic at times but we really enjoyed them being here. We got a great picture of everyone in their Colts gear before they left. GO COLTS!!

After they left we could not let this beautiful day pass by without being outside so we went to the Carolina Raptor Center which is a beautiful natural environment dedicated to education and the conservation of birds of prey, the rehabilitation of injured, and orphaned raptors and research. We saw beautiful barn, horned and barred owls Golden and Bald Eagles, a Harris Hawk and the cutest tiny screech owl up close. It was really incredible to see such beautiful birds.

At the end of the day we went to see Bee movie, which was really cute and pretty educational for kids to really understand what bees do and that no one should be afraid of bees like many adults teach children to be.

On a side note, When Harrison started Kindergarten I asked him what he wanted to learn in school and in addition to Math he wanted to learn something new everyday. So as his Mother and just a generally curious person I also want to learn something new everyday and thought through my blog I would share with you what I learn. This learning may be big or small but something that I did not know before today.

So here we go

Today I learned: All 50 states are listed across the top of the Lincoln Memorial on the back of the $5 bill.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD/GRANDPA

We celebrated Dad's 62nd birthday today with one of his favorites; coconut cake. His birthday is on November 5th but since they are leaving tomorrow we celebrated today. The cake was delicious and as most of you might assume we all loved it except for the you know who's.

History Traditon Mystique

Today we ventured out to Hickory, most noted to be the Furniture Mecca of the World, but we visited for another reason Hickory Motor Speedway Birthplace of the Nascar Stars and the Worlds Most Famous Short Track opened in June 1951. This is where the Earnhardt legacy began with Ralph Earnhardt father of Dale Earnhardt and grandfather of Dale Earnhardt Jr, as well as so many other Champions.

We saw a truck and a car out practicing and the kids covered their ears the whole time, Delaney said it was a great race.
