Go BIG or go home!!!

We took a drive up to The Yadkin Valley pumpkin festival where they grow the big ones. This years North Carolina pumpkin winner was 1140 pounds, not sure how a pumpkin could get so big but a fork lift and a skid is how it got into it's truck. We saw some big watermelon and something else that was long and green could have been a zucchini not really sure.

This pumpkin the kids are standing by is the South Carolina winner

The pumpkin Jason is standing by is the North Carolina winner; 1140 pounds.

State champ of the long green thing

Another big watermelon on display, we were wondering if bigger tastes better. I think not, but one will never know!

After the festival we were on our way to apple valley into the mountains to pick our own apples

Our apple haul, my husband only eats apples plain and my kids only like to eat the apples plain or in peanut butter, but imagine the possibilities if they would try some other apple delights. Just one pie would be so great, I may have to make one for a neighbor and invite myself for a slice!

Just like Mom!

I remember spending most of my childhood either climbing trees or swinging in them and listening to my Mom saying you are going to fall and break your neck. Well in 4th grade I fell out of my favorite tree knocking the wind out of me and breaking not my neck but my left arm; the one I did everything with. To be honest not such a bad thing it was an experience to go through and I would not change breaking my arm for all the fun I had in that tree. So needless to say I kinda encourage the climbing because I know what fun a child can have climbing a tree, so enjoy girls just don't break the branches.

Savannah could only go this high and after her attempt of getting down on her own she said "this is the last time I am climbing trees I am not a climber like Sydnee and Delaney!"

9-10-11 Our new biking pro

The day has come to ride without the help of training wheels, at age 6 years and almost 4 months she and Daddy worked on the sidewalk last night for about an hour and this morning she could hardly wait to get out there and do it on her own. I am so proud of her I can do it myself attitude; even though it gets me into trouble a lot of the time I understand it and totally accept it!!! Great Job girl, now as Harrison put it "we can finally go on a bike ride and it won't take her so long!"
