SHABBY CHIC

As I have said before, I have been working on Delaney's room and think I may finally be done with her dresser and table. I am still working on her quilt, I have cut 7 chenille bedspreads into many 9x9 squares as well as the fabric from her bumper pad and chenille from her changing pad cover that I have stitched into 8 strips now I have to put the strips together add a back and batting and quilt. Once I am totally finished with quilt, bed and everything else I will add photos. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I can do that within the week!!

TRYING TO KEEP UP

I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON DELANEY'S ROOM AND I HAVE GIVEN MYSELF A DEADLINE TO FINISH HER BIG GIRL ROOM BY THE END OF OCTOBER OR SOONER. I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON HER DRESSER, BED, TABLE & CHAIRS, WALL SHELVES AND I AM MAKING A QUILT. VERY TIME CONSUMING WORK, BUT I THINK THE END RESULT WILL BE WONDERFUL AND NEAR.

ANYHOW HARRISON HAD A SOCCER GAME YESTERDAY AND SCORED THE ONLY GOAL OF THE GAME, MOST OF THE GAME HE WAS BUSY PROTECTING HIS TEAMS GOAL.

FIRST BUS RIDE

Today is the day of new beginnings and Harrison is off to school on the bus. After following the bus home from school everyday since school started he has decided he wants to start riding it. He is the 5th stop to pick up and the 5th to drop off and only 2 streets of kids on this bus in our neighborhood, we have at least 4 buses that pick up just for his school of K thru 2nd grade. When the bus pulled up he was more than excited to get on and I kinda wanted to say no I am not ready to let go yet, let me drive you, but his excitement was too much. I gave my baby to an absolute stranger to take to school, this is the first adult outside of family that has ever driven him anywhere. I can hardly wait for him to come home. Delaney had to bring her baby along and take her for a walk.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDPA!!

I know Grandpa has taken up a new hobby of surfing, he was given a computer at his 81st birthday on Sunday and hopefully it will keep him busy.
Happy Birthday Grandpa, we missed your party but saw the photos on Emily and Brian's blog and The Mendenhall blog and it looked like everyone had a great time.
On a side note the Baby Layne watch is still on, still waiting patiently, due date Wednesday September 19!

APPLE FESTIVAL

The celebration of Apples comes early here in North Carolina and we headed out to celebrate since we are locals now we decided to do as the locals do and go to Linconton for the Lincolnton Applefest.
The kids both rode horses and feasted on Snow-cones (there is a photo of Harrison eating his while Delaney is having a meltdown because she wants another bite of Jason's) and various other festive fare. I had a carmel apple and Jason had an apple cider slushy. I think Delaney met her first idol, Miss Gaston County Sarah Portela, she was signing autographs and Delaney made sure to get one! Jason milked his first cow, and Harrison jammed to the beat of the Lincolnton High School band. I just enjoyed the beautiful day and right now my new bottle of wine from a local vineyard discovered at the festival. Cheers!
There are no photos of me, but I was there.
Mrs. Sloan, Harrison's teacher has included some class photos on her website, her link is on the right just scroll down.

Look out Beckham

Soccer started tonight and Harrison is so excited and considered a senior player in his age range in the game of soccer, he knows what is going on and not interested in picking grass anymore. He is on the Orange team and they named themselves the Tigers. I told him he may be up there with David Beckham some day and he told me "He will like me so much he will want to share his money with me". There are others on his team that are new to the game, so Harrison may get some action this season!!

FAREWELL POOL

It is the heat of the summer in North Carolina and our beloved pool is closing this weekend. Bid farewell to our true love during this years record breaking heatwave. We thought if we moved south we could can swim until Halloween, what a disappointment!! It looks like our backyard kiddie pool and local spray fountains are where our water entertainment continues.

We spent an hour in the blazing sun at Harrison's football game Saturday at noon, I have never seen so many umbrellas, just walking made you break a sweat.

COOKIE MONSTERS

The kids love making cookies and they do such a good job taking turns adding the ingredients. I think all four of us share the same love of eating chocolate chip cookies.
After the cookies went into the oven Harrison was off to the races but Delaney stood and waited patiently at the counter for 10 minutes while the cookies baked, that may be the longest she has EVER waited for anything in her life!!! One small step for her, One giant leap for me!

CRUISIN KIDS

All of the vehicles were out tonight, Harrison and Delaney with Megan, Savanna and Becky raced around the yard in their Jeeps. Everyone worked up a great sweat in the 100 degree weather, I was sweating just watching them (UGH)! Of course our child of constant movement (Delaney) could not decide which one she wanted to ride.

Comment section corrected

There were quite a few people that were trying to leave comments and I just figured out how to correct it, so you are now able to comment. At the bottom of each post you will see a comment spot in the lower left corner just click it and you are able to type in a comment or read other comments. Type your comment and click publish and it will post. Still working out the bugs.

First Flag Grab!!!

Tonight was the first flag football game of the season our team The Eagles vs. The Chiefs. Harrison is #3 and was not interested in running the ball but he was interested in getting a flag and he did it tonight, take a look at the video (I finally figured it out). It was so fun to see the determination in his face. They do keep score and we lost only by one touchdown, pretty good for a new team. While Harrison is running the field Delaney was hanging out running with the mini crew.

Our future game dates are September 8, 10, 13, 18, 19, 24, 26, October 1 and last game October 4

OFF TO SCHOOL

Today is the second day of school and Harrison and the girls are ready to go. Our neighbors Harrison friends Sydney and Megan are ready but Savannah was not interested in being photographed.
After dropping Harrison off to school Delaney and I spent the day walking downtown Mooresville we stopped into a cafe for a snack and to the library for her first experience without Harrison and she loved being alone with all of Mommy's attention.
